Darkness and light are two defining elements that coexist and contrast in Jamal Cazaré’s (*1986) photographs, which are complemented by performative and installative works. The artist mixes fact and fiction and condenses them into an intensely subjective view of incisive socio-political developments. Cazaré, who works in Berlin and Leipzig and studied media art at the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts, captures the present and uses the camera as a fine sensor for visualising social structures.
